Good for all the same reasons as Vaill Beach, Black Rock is the best surfing spot on the island if the waves are right. Black Rock gets its name from the very large black rock at the short line. The only parking area is accessible by private road, so you can’t drive all the way down; if you’re coming by car, use the same parking and path information as you would for Vaill Beach, then walk along the beach to Black Rock. (Those on bikes or coming by foot have the option of using the private road. It’s a dirt road, so mopeds are not allowed.) Not the easiest beach to get to, but beautiful sunset views over the cliffs make it worthwhile.
