Mohegan Bluffs
Block Island may be tiny, but it’s packed with spots that feel like they’re straight out of a postcard. One of the top stops for photographers is the Mohegan Bluffs. You’ll see sweeping ocean views and if you’re up for a little adventure, the 141 steps down to the beach are totally worth it for that peaceful, untouched vibe. Please remember, per the DEM, the bottom of the staircase at the Edward S. Payne overlook at Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island will be closed to the public until further notice to protect public safety due to erosion causing a large drop at the base of the stairs to the beach below. The overlook at the top of the bluffs, the parking lot, and the top of the stairs remains open. The bottom of the stairs is closed off to the beach because the path to the beach has been washed out. Please remember while exploring to obey all of the signage and stay away from the edge of the bluffs.

For a mix of history and natural beauty, check out the Southeast Light and North Lighthouse. Each lighthouse has its own character—Southeast Light is perched up high on the Mohegan Bluffs, while North Lighthouse sits quietly on the northern tip, nestled among dunes and grass. Both make for perfect photos, whether you’re capturing a foggy morning or a sunny afternoon. These structures are more than just landmarks; they’re pieces of Block Island’s story, adding a timeless feel to any photo you capture.

Town
In town, the architecture adds an old-school charm that feels like stepping back in time. Quaint cottages, Victorian-style inns, and historic buildings are scattered along narrow streets, each with its own coastal New England character. A walk through town offers endless details to capture—colorful doors, inviting porches, and the little signs that welcome you into each shop or inn.

Dorries Cove
What’s better than ending the day with a Block Island sunset at Dorries Cove? This beach is located on the West side of the island, and is notorious for some of the best glowing sunsets. Cozy up with a beach blanket, a book, and soak in the Block Island zen. Remember, this beach is rocky so wear comfortable shoes!
