Despite the word taste, this weekend goes way beyond a Restaurant Week. This is a sampler platter of all Block Island has to offer -- delicious food, charming lodgings, pristine beaches, fun-filled activities, unique shopping – most of it delivered at a discount, and all of it with a giant dollop of island hospitality.
The first step is to buy a Taste of Block Island Button, available for just $5 at the Block Island Visitor Center (1 Water Street) or on board either of the ferries that take you out to the island. This enables you to take advantage of the many discounts offered on this special weekend -- from taxi and farm tours to wine and beer tastings to a chance to design your very own ice cream sundae. Shops will offer discounts, hotels have special lodging packages, and restaurant specials abound. Outdoor enthusiasts will have an opportunity to learn how to paddleboard, go kayaking or rent bikes and mopeds at a discount. We could go on for days – which may be why Taste of Block Island is actually a multi-day event, spanning the entire weekend – from Friday, September 21st through Sunday the 23rd.
This is a popular event, and some of the most popular offerings have limited capacity, so it’s best to reserve early. Check www.blockislandinfo.com to plan your visit and call 401-466-2474 to book any activities that need prior reservations.
